An Exacting Replica of the World's Most Famous Flying V

Weight: 7lb 8oz

In Joe Bonamassa’s epic guitar collection, one of the most prized and famous guitars is “Amos,” an original 1958 Gibson Flying V™. Amos got its name and customized truss rod cover from a gentleman named Amos Arthur, the owner of Arthur’s Music in Indianapolis, Indiana. Gibson’s ledgers show that this particular Flying V was shipped to his store on May 29, 1958. The guitar was eventually sold to Pete Mitchell of Ernest Tubb’s band, and in the mid-70s, it ended up in the hands of none other than Norm Harris of Norman’s Rare Guitars. Over the years, this guitar has appeared in many notable guitar books and even in the 1984 movie, This Is Spinal Tap. Joe purchased Amos from Norm Harris almost ten years ago and this beautiful instrument continues to inspire him to this day, regularly featured both live and in the studio. This special Collector’s Edition limited run of replications uses new 3D scanning technology and ultra-precise Murphy Lab aging techniques to aid in handcrafting an effective clone of Amos. Every detail has been thoughtfully replicated, from the exact playing wear to the sonic character and solid Brazilian rosewood fretboard. Only 50 of these exceptional instruments have been handmade by the expert luthiers of the Gibson Custom Shop and Murphy Lab in Nashville, Tennessee, as part of this extraordinary Collector’s Edition run.

 Highlighted Features:

 • 2-piece Korina Body The body of this stunning reproduction of one of the world’s most famous vintage guitars from Gibson Custom is made from Korina wood, a species of African limba that is light and exceptionally toneful, as well as historically authentic for original 50s era Flying V guitars.

• Korina Neck with Brazilian rosewood fretboard Not only is the body made of Korina, but so is the neck. The premium tonewood theme continues with the inclusion of a rare Brazilian rosewood fretboard. Due to regulations on the trade of this rare wood, this guitar is only available in the USA. The neck features a custom Amos profile that precisely replicates the profile of Joe’s original guitar.

• Murphy Lab Aged Finish and Gold Hardware The artisans of the Murphy Lab have masterfully aged this guitar’s Antique Natural finish and gold hardware to duplicate the wear and aging of the original vintage guitar in all respects, giving it the look and feel of Joe’s prized original Flying V. Even the included brown/pink hardshell case has been aged.

• Premium Electronics The Joe Bonamassa “Amos" 1958 Flying V Collector’s Edition includes premium electronics, including a Switchcraft 3-way pickup selector switch and ¼” output jack, 500k CTS® vintage taper potentiometers, and a pair of Amos Custombucker humbucking pickups.
