This Fender Custom Shop TSG Exclusive ’63 Stratocaster is the result of a hands-on design process during our most recent visit to the Fender Custom Shop. Every detail was intentional — from the chambered construction to the pickup selection — but the standout element is the set of necks, which were hand-selected by our team in person for feel, figure, and overall character.

Built with a chambered ash body, this Strat delivers a more open, resonant response while keeping weight down and comfort high. It retains the familiar snap and clarity of a great early-’60s Strat, but with added liveliness and a slightly more responsive feel under the hands. The Journeyman Relic finish gives it a naturally worn-in look and feel, offering the vibe of a well-played vintage instrument without heavy distressing.

The trio of hand-wound Strat Fat ’60s single-coil pickups captures the essence of a classic Strat voice — warm, round lows, clear and glassy highs, and a dynamic response that tracks your picking hand with precision. Clean tones are articulate and expressive, while driven tones retain clarity and note separation.

The necks on this run were a major focus for us. Each one was handpicked for visual appeal and feel, then shaped to a comfortable ’63-style oval “C” profile. Paired with a 9.5" radius and narrow tall frets, the result is a neck that feels vintage at a glance but plays effortlessly across the board. The medium-tint nitro finish and rolled edges give it an immediately broken-in feel.

This is a Tone Shop-designed Custom Shop Strat — built with intention, refined through experience, and made to feel right the moment you pick it up.
