Overview
Celebrate Gibson’s legacy with the 1958 ES-335 Reissue Murphy Lab Heavy Aged, Faded Tobacco Burst Limited Edition—a rare tribute to the debut year of one of the world’s most influential electric guitars. This exclusive run of just 130 instruments captures the soul of the very first ES-335: the world’s original semi-hollow electric, crafted under the vision of Ted McCarty and favored by legends like B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Larry Carlton, and Warren Haynes.
This limited-edition Custom Shop model features Murphy Lab heavy aging for an authentically worn, played-in look and feel. The classic 3-ply maple/poplar/maple body with a solid maple centerblock delivers the open, resonant tone that made the ES-335 iconic. The unbound fat '58 C-shape neck and unbound Indian rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays replicate the unique specs of the very first models.
A pair of Custombucker pickups (unpotted) unleash true PAF-inspired magic—rich, dynamic, and full of nuance—while aged nickel hardware, ABR-1 bridge, and lightweight aluminum stop bar ensure period-correct vibe and reliability. Finished in a washed-out Faded Tobacco Burst, each guitar comes with a brown Lifton hardshell case and a custom certificate of authenticity.
