The Taylor 112ce Studio Prototype offers a rare opportunity to own an early version of one of Taylor’s most accessible and player-friendly compact acoustic platforms. Prototype builds like this are created during the development phase before a model reaches broader production, giving players access to instruments directly tied to the evolution of the design itself.

This particular prototype introduces the “Studio” concept to the 112ce platform, replacing the standard Sitka spruce top with a torrefied Sitka spruce top. That change gives the guitar a warmer, more relaxed tonal response right out of the case, adding a more mature, broken-in character compared to the standard production version.

Built around Taylor’s compact Grand Concert body shape, the 112ce Studio Prototype delivers a focused, balanced voice with excellent articulation and touch sensitivity. The smaller body dimensions make it especially comfortable for fingerstyle players, recording applications, and anyone looking for a more controlled acoustic response without sacrificing fullness or projection.

The layered walnut back and sides help keep the tone balanced and direct while adding durability and stability for everyday use. Combined with the torrefied Sitka top, the guitar feels noticeably more open and responsive than a typical entry-level acoustic.

Taylor’s V-Class bracing helps improve sustain, note separation, and intonation consistency while preserving the Grand Concert’s naturally balanced tonal character.
