A hundred years is a long time to be building flat-tops, and Gibson is marking the milestone the way you'd hope they would: not with a logo on a headstock, but with five instruments that trace the whole arc of the round-shoulder and square-shoulder tradition. The Gibson Custom Anniversary Collection pulls together the J-45, Hummingbird, SJ-200, Dove, and Advanced Jumbo, gives them a shared visual language, and holds each model to a run of just 100 worldwide.

What ties them together is a period-correct Cremona Burst gloss nitrocellulose lacquer inspired by the earliest Gibson flat-tops, and a select bear claw Sitka spruce top on every one, that streaky figuring that looks almost like weather in the wood. Each guitar wears an abalone rosette and abalone-accented multi-ply top binding, rides on a bound rosewood fretboard, and carries a bone nut and saddle with gold-plated Grover tuners. The single-ply bound headstock brings back the vintage script "The Gibson" logo in mother of pearl. Underneath, L.R. Baggs VTC electronics, an under-saddle piezo and active preamp with the volume and tone controls tucked discreetly inside the soundhole, keep them stage-ready without cluttering the look.

All five share the same finish and the same DNA. What separates them is the voice, and each one has a different story to tell.

Gibson Advanced Jumbo Anniversary Limited Edition in Cremona Burst, three views

Gibson Advanced Jumbo Anniversary Limited Edition

The sleeper pick, and the one true outlier in the collection. First launched in 1936, the Advanced Jumbo is the only model here with rosewood back and sides, which is where its reputation comes from: deep, complex low end and a richness vintage AJs are chased for. The Historic AJ neck profile, firestripe pickguard, and mother-of-pearl arrow inlays keep it period-correct down to the details.

  • Back & sides: Rosewood
  • Body: Advanced Jumbo
