Addison Store Info

PRS has always built guitars by listening to players, and lately a lot of those players have been asking for the same list: thinner necks, flatter fretboards, longer scales, stainless frets and pickups that sound right going into a modeler. The Tekton family is PRS's answer.

Tekton launches as four models on one shared platform: the hardtail Tekton, the Tekton T with a two-point tremolo, the Floyd Rose-equipped Tekton "Floyd" and the seven-string Tekton SVN. The name comes from the ancient Greek word for a craftsman or builder. PRS says these have the thinnest body and thinnest neck it has ever put into standard production.

Construction Bolt-on maple neck, 24 frets
Frets Stainless steel jumbo
Scale 25.5" (26.5" on SVN)
Fretboard Ebony, 16" radius
Pickups PRS Stylus, Alnico 5, coil-split
Finish Gloss nitro body, satin nitro neck

A Modern Neck That Still Feels Like PRS

The Tekton story starts at the neck. The Modern "D" carve is thin, but PRS left enough shoulder in it to fill your hand. The neck is reinforced with strength rods, similar to the carbon rods PRS uses in its acoustics, for added stability and a stiffer, more resonant neck.

The 16" radius is flat enough for wide bends and fast runs, and the stainless steel jumbo frets stay smooth and bright for the long haul. String spacing matches the Silver Sky and Fiore, a touch wider than traditional PRS spacing. Sweeps and fast picking get a little more room. Blue Luminlay side dots keep you oriented on a dark stage, and the new offset dot inlays came straight out of artist feedback on the prototypes.

The body shape is new too. PRS started from the Vela and its classic Custom outline, then carved in an exaggerated scoop for upper-fret access and a comfortable belly cut. Every Tekton ships in a PRS Premium gig bag.

Stylus Pickups, Voiced for Amps and Modelers

PRS designed a new set of pickups just for this family, called Stylus. They're Alnico 5 humbuckers with lower output than a lot of pickups aimed at modern high-gain players. Notes stay defined under heavy gain, and the flatter output sits well with digital rigs. Into a tube amp, they still have plenty of character. PRS even tooled new pickup bobbins to match the wider string spacing.

The controls are simple: volume, a push/pull tone knob that splits both pickups, and a three-way blade switch. That gives you six sounds, and PRS designed every position, humbucking and split, to be usable on its own.

The Tekton Lineup

Same neck, same frets, same pickup family across all four. Here's what changes from model to model.

PRS Tekton hardtail guitars in all six finishes: Slate Blue, Imperial Topaz, Black Tourmaline, Violet Tourmaline, Bloodstone Red and Fuchsia Aura.

Tekton

The hardtail of the family. A figured mango top over a mahogany back, a string-through PRS Hardtail bridge with individual saddles for precise intonation, and PRS Phase III locking tuners. With a fixed bridge, the Tekton feels direct and resonant and holds its tuning.

Finishes: Slate Blue, Imperial Topaz, Black Tourmaline, Violet Tourmaline, Bloodstone Red, Fuchsia Aura

PRS Tekton T tremolo guitars in all six finishes: Slate Blue, Imperial Topaz, Black Tourmaline, Violet Tourmaline, Bloodstone Red and Fuchsia Aura.

Tekton T

The same mango-over-mahogany build and locking tuners, with a PRS two-point tremolo in place of the hardtail. The steel plate and brass saddles add resonance, and the trem can be set to float for expressive vibrato while staying stable in tune.

Finishes: Slate Blue, Imperial Topaz, Black Tourmaline, Violet Tourmaline, Bloodstone Red, Fuchsia Aura

PRS Tekton Floyd guitars in all six finishes: Pearl Black, Purple Royale, Multi-Metal Flake, White Holoflake, Hot Pink and Neon Green.

Tekton "Floyd"

The Floyd moves to a lightweight alder body in solid and flake finishes and adds a Floyd Rose 1000 Series tremolo with a 16" radius to match the fretboard. Dive bombs, flutters and wide vibrato are all on the table. Tuners are PRS Phase III non-locking.

Finishes: Pearl Black, Purple Royale, Multi-Metal Flake, White Holoflake, Hot Pink, Neon Green

PRS Tekton SVN seven-string guitars in all six finishes: Slate Blue, Imperial Topaz, Black Tourmaline, Violet Tourmaline, Bloodstone Red and Fuchsia Aura.

Tekton SVN

The seven-string, and the first seven-string in PRS's American-made catalog. The scale stretches to 26.5" for more tension and clarity on the low B, and the neck widens to 1 29/32" at the nut. It has dedicated Stylus SVN pickups, a seven-string PRS Hardtail and locking tuners, and comes strung with 10-59s in standard B tuning.

Finishes: Slate Blue, Imperial Topaz, Black Tourmaline, Violet Tourmaline, Bloodstone Red, Fuchsia Aura
