This Collings OM-42 A Torch starts with the OM3 platform and transforms it with a substantial set of custom appointments, led by an Adirondack spruce top, koa back and sides, 42-style abalone top border, and Collings’ Torch peghead inlay. It is an ornate build, but the underlying instrument remains a traditional 14-fret Collings OM.

The Adirondack spruce top replaces the standard Sitka spruce, while koa takes the place of the OM3’s usual East Indian rosewood back and sides. Pre-war scalloped X-bracing remains at the heart of the construction, with the compact 15" OM body measuring 4" deep.

The Honduran mahogany neck uses Collings’ Modified V profile and 25 1/2" scale length. This build was ordered with a wider 1 3/4" bone nut, paired with an ebony fingerboard and Collings’ compound 14"-26" radius.

Its visual appointments are what really separate this guitar from a standard OM3. A 42-style abalone top border is joined by an abalone peghead border, 45-style snowflake fingerboard inlays, and the elaborate Torch peghead inlay. The OM3’s abalone rosette and ivoroid binding provide the foundation for the upgraded presentation.

An ebony belly-style bridge, bone drop-in saddle, ebony bridge pins with abalone dots, and gold Waverly tuners complete the build. A Collings deluxe OM hardshell case is included.
