The Collings DS1 A HC Hill Country brings a 12-fret dreadnought body into Collings’ warmer, woodier Hill Country voice. Built with an Adirondack spruce top, Honduran mahogany back and sides, and Collings’ HC build and appointments, this guitar is designed for a strong fundamental, dry character, and full low-end response.

The Hill Country series sits at the far end of the Collings acoustic spectrum, with a more open, old-school feel compared to the standard Collings voice. This DS1 A HC still has the precision and build quality Collings is known for, but with a warmer attack, a rounder response, and the kind of dry, woody character that feels right at home for flatpicking, vocal accompaniment, and roots-driven playing.

The 12-fret dreadnought design adds depth and body to the voice, while the Adirondack spruce top gives the guitar headroom and dynamic range. Paired with Honduran mahogany back and sides, the result is a powerful but direct acoustic with excellent balance, strong projection, and a clear fundamental note.

Hill Country appointments include tortoise body binding, ebony fingerboard binding, gold mother-of-pearl dot inlays, a hand-poured tortoise pickguard with matching rosette ring, wedge, and heel cap, plus a tapered slotted peghead with the Collings logo stamped on the back. It’s a stripped-down, highly intentional Collings build with a voice and feel all its own.
