Gibson Custom 1942 Banner J-45 – Heavy Aged Vintage Sunburst
Serial: 22925007
This 1942 Banner J-45 comes from Gibson’s Murphy Lab-inspired acoustic program, built to recreate the feel, dryness, and character of an early wartime J-45. The Heavy Aged finish gives it the look of a well-loved vintage instrument without compromising playability. The 1942 wood recipe delivers a warm, broken-in midrange, quick response, and that unmistakable “thump” that makes a great J-45 sit perfectly in a mix.
With its thermally aged Adirondack spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and period-correct neck profile, this model captures the open, punchy, dry voice that defined Gibson’s Banner-era acoustics. It’s a singer-songwriter staple for good reason — balanced, controlled, and incredibly musical.
