Gibson Custom Limited Edition 1960 ES-355 Sixties Cherry Light Aged A960725
About This Guitar
Serial: A960725
Weight: 8 lbs 3.9 oz
The Gibson Custom Limited Edition 1960 ES-355 Reissue in Sixties Cherry brings one of Gibson’s most ornate semi-hollow designs together with figured maple and Murphy Lab Light Aging. Part of Gibson Custom’s Limited Edition Collection, it takes the late-’50s/early-’60s ES-355 formula and gives it a carefully aged presentation that feels broken-in without pushing into heavy relic territory.
The semi-hollow body uses a layered figured maple, poplar, and maple construction with a solid maple center block. Multi-ply binding frames the top and back, while the figured maple outer veneer remains visible beneath the Sixties Cherry finish. Murphy Lab Light Aging is applied to the nitrocellulose lacquer and hardware to recreate the look of a vintage instrument that has seen years of careful use.
A one-piece mahogany neck uses Gibson’s Authentic 1961 profile and a long neck tenon. The bound ebony fingerboard features a 12" radius, 24.75" scale length, 22 Reissue Medium Jumbo frets, and mother-of-pearl block inlays. A multi-ply bound headstock with mother-of-pearl Gibson logo and Custom split-diamond inlay completes the classic ES-355 presentation.
A pair of Custombucker Alnico 3 humbuckers handles the electronics, paired with two volume controls, two tone controls, and a three-way toggle switch. The combination keeps the layout traditional while staying true to the early humbucker-equipped ES-355 formula.
Gold hardware includes an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, Stop Bar tailpiece, Grover Rotomatic tuners, and gold pickup covers. Black plastics and black Top Hat knobs provide contrast against the Sixties Cherry finish. A Lifton reissue hardshell case and Certificate of Authenticity are included.
