This Gibson Custom Shop Dealer Select 1960 Hummingbird represents Tone Shop Guitars’ exclusive take on one of Gibson’s most iconic acoustic designs. Finished in Ebony and treated with Murphy Lab Heavy Aging, this square-shoulder classic blends the unmistakable visual identity of the Hummingbird with the broken-in feel and character of a well-played vintage instrument.

Introduced in 1960 as Gibson’s first square-shoulder acoustic, the Hummingbird quickly became a defining voice in folk, rock, and country music. This Dealer Select Murphy Lab version stays true to those early examples while incorporating modern Gibson Custom craftsmanship and a bold Ebony finish that gives the guitar a darker, more striking look.

A thermally aged Sitka spruce top paired with mahogany back and sides delivers a warm, balanced voice with strong midrange presence and clear note definition. Traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing enhances resonance and responsiveness, while the 24.75" scale length gives the guitar a comfortable feel for strumming, fingerstyle playing, and vocal accompaniment.

The mahogany neck features a rounded profile for a familiar vintage-inspired grip, paired with a rosewood fingerboard and mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays. The Murphy Lab Heavy Aged treatment adds more pronounced checking, wear, and aged character than a lighter aging package, giving this Hummingbird the look and feel of a guitar with real history behind it.
