The Gibson Custom Hummingbird Custom Koa takes one of Gibson’s most recognizable acoustic designs and pushes it into true showcase territory. Figured solid koa back and sides, extensive hand-inlaid and hand-engraved hummingbird artwork, and an Antique Natural nitrocellulose finish make this one of the most elaborate Hummingbird builds in the Gibson Custom lineup.

The square-shoulder body pairs a solid Sitka spruce top with figured solid koa back and sides. Traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing supports the top, while multi-ply abalone top binding, multi-ply back binding, an abalone rosette, and a center marquetry strip across the two-piece back add detail throughout the body.

A mahogany neck uses Gibson’s Rounded profile and a 24.75" scale length. It joins the body with a compound dovetail joint using hot hide glue and is topped with a bound ebony fingerboard featuring 20 frets and elaborate mother-of-pearl and abalone hummingbird and flower inlays.

The custom artwork continues across the instrument. The bound headstock carries a mother-of-pearl Gibson logo and mother-of-pearl and abalone hummingbird inlay, while the Hummingbird pickguard incorporates additional mother-of-pearl and abalone work. Even the traditional ebony belly-up bridge receives a pair of engraved mother-of-pearl hummingbird inlays.

Gold-plated Grover tuners with engraved kidney buttons, a bone nut, bone saddle, and bone bridge pins complete the hardware package. This acoustic-only model includes a Gibson Custom hardshell case and Gibson accessory kit.
