Ernie Ball Music Man Short Scale StingRay Tobacco Burst

The Short Scale StingRay takes the core Music Man StingRay formula and puts it into a compact 30" scale platform that’s easier to get around without giving up the sound and feel that make a StingRay unmistakable.

An ash body and roasted maple neck provide the foundation, while the shorter scale reduces the spacing between frets for a comfortable, easy-playing feel. The neck uses Music Man’s familiar gunstock oil and hand-rubbed wax finish, along with a 1.5" compensated nut and 22 high-profile, wide stainless steel frets.

At the heart of the bass is a passive StingRay humbucker designed specifically for the short-scale platform. Higher-output neodymium magnets deliver the warm, round sound Music Man was after, while a rotary three-way selector switches between parallel, true single-coil and series configurations. That gives you three genuinely useful pickup voices without adding an active preamp or extra controls.

A top-loaded Music Man steel bridge, lightweight Music Man tuning machines and an included Mono soft case round out a USA-made short-scale bass that keeps the StingRay concept simple, versatile and easy to play.
