About This Guitar
The EVH Striped Series Shapes in White and Black recreates the distinctive geometric design of one of Eddie Van Halen's guitars from the 1981 Fair Warning tour. Inspired by an original instrument Eddie used in Drop D tuning, the Shapes combines a mahogany body, single EVH Wolfgang humbucker, and Floyd Rose locking tremolo with the EVH D-Tuna system. Its bold White and Black painted graphic makes this one of the more recognizable designs in the Striped Series.
The mahogany body features a satin urethane finish and a direct-mounted EVH Wolfgang bridge humbucker. A single master volume control uses a 500K EVH Bourns low-friction potentiometer, keeping the electronics simple and accessible. The pickup provides the high-output response associated with EVH guitars, while the single-humbucker configuration stays faithful to the stripped-down approach of Eddie's original instruments.
The one-piece quartersawn maple neck features graphite reinforcement, a scarf joint, and Eddie's EVH Modified "C" backshape. Its oiled finish provides a smooth playing surface, while the 12"โ16" compound-radius maple fingerboard combines a rounder feel near the nut with a flatter upper register. The neck also features 22 jumbo frets, black dot inlays, a 25.5" scale length, and a heel-mounted truss rod adjustment wheel.
An EVH-branded Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo provides pitch control, while the integrated EVH D-Tuna allows quick changes between standard and Drop D tuning when the bridge is properly configured. An R3 locking nut, EVH-branded tuning machines, chrome hardware, and oversized strap buttons complete the instrument. An EVH Wolfgang/Striped Series gig bag is included.
