The Fender Custom Shop 1963 Jazz Bass Journeyman Relic in Aged Aztec Gold delivers an early-'60s-inspired Jazz Bass build with carefully chosen Custom Shop details and a lightly aged Journeyman treatment. Its two-piece alder body is finished in nitrocellulose lacquer, while the custom quartersawn maple neck is paired with an AAA rosewood round-lam fingerboard for a classic 1963-style foundation.
The neck features Fender's '60 J-Bass "U" back shape, measuring .790" at the first fret and .990" at the 12th fret. A traditional 7.25" fingerboard radius, Medium Vintage 47095 fret wire, vintage clay dots, bone nut, and matching painted headcap reinforce the period-inspired character. The Journeyman finish package gives the bass a played-in appearance and feel while retaining a more restrained level of aging than Fender's heavier Relic treatments.
A pair of Fender Custom Shop Hand-Wound Vintage Jazz Bass pickups provides the familiar dual-single-coil Jazz Bass configuration, complemented by vintage-style hardware and nickel relic tuning machines. This individual Custom Shop bass is serial number CZ590449.
