The Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition P-Jazz Bass Relic combines Jazz Bass-inspired feel and aesthetics with the unmistakable punch of a hand-wound ’57 Precision Bass pickup. This distinctive bass features a lightweight-sorted, two-piece ash body finished in Chocolate 3-Color Sunburst with a Relic Flash Coat lacquer treatment and heavy checking for a convincingly aged appearance.
The custom quarter-sawn maple neck uses a ’60 Jazz Bass “U” profile measuring .790" at the first fret and .990" at the 12th, paired with a 7.25" radius quarter-sawn maple fingerboard. Vintage Upgrade 45085 fret wire, a bone nut, medium-tint Flash Coat lacquer finish, and heavy fret ghosting reinforce the vintage-inspired character.
Electronics are intentionally straightforward, with a hand-wound ’57 P-Bass Relic pickup providing the bass’s voice. Relic chrome/nickel hardware, vintage-style bass tuners, a P/J Bass bridge assembly, Vintage Jazz Bass headstock decal, and a third strap button on the back of the headstock complete the build.
