Gibson Custom 1971 Flying V Medallion Reissue Medallion Cherry w/case 710102
About This Guitar
Serial: 710102
Weight: 6lb 8.8oz
The Gibson Custom 1971 Flying V Medallion Reissue brings back one of Gibson’s most distinctive early limited-edition designs. Finished in Medallion Cherry, it recreates the thinner mahogany Flying V construction, period-correct hardware, numbered gold body medallion, and T-Top pickup recipe that made the original such a standout.
The two-piece mahogany body follows the slimmer profile used on the original Medallion models, measuring approximately 1.375" thick. That reduced depth gives the V a more streamlined feel while retaining the clarity, sustain, and authority expected from a mahogany solidbody.
Its three-piece mahogany neck is carved to an Authentic 1971 Flying V profile and joined with a long neck tenon. A period-correct volute adds strength behind the headstock, while the one-piece rosewood fingerboard features dot inlays, a 12" radius, and 22 Reissue Medium Jumbo frets.
A matched pair of unpotted 1968 T-Top Reissue humbuckers with Alnico 5 magnets handles the electronics. Hand-wired controls include independent volume controls, a master tone control, and a 3-way toggle, keeping the layout true to the original-era design.
Chrome hardware includes an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, Stop Bar tailpiece, and Kluson Deluxe tuners. The signature 1.5" gold medallion is mounted on the bass-side wing, individually numbered, and marked with Gibson and Limited Edition Model text. A Gibson reissue hardshell case is included.
