Designed as a Tone Shop Guitars Dealer Select exclusive, this Explorer Custom takes Gibson’s iconic offset design in a completely different visual direction. Finished in a Double Gold top with natural back, it pairs a plain 2-piece maple top with a 1-piece mahogany body, gold hardware, and an Ultra Light Aged finish treatment for a look that is equal parts classic Gibson Custom and full-on stage piece.

The Goldtop treatment gives this Explorer a rare, high-impact look, but the build stays grounded in the parts that make the Explorer Custom such a great player. The mahogany body and maple top deliver the sustain, punch, and attack expected from a premium Gibson Custom solidbody, with multi-ply binding and a matching multi-ply pickguard adding to the dressed-up Custom feel.

The 1-piece mahogany neck has a 1950s Chunky D profile, measuring .90" at the first fret and 1.00" at the 12th. It is paired with an Indian rosewood fingerboard, dot inlays, single-ply white binding, 22 medium-jumbo frets, and a 24.75" scale length. It is a substantial, familiar neck shape that suits the Explorer’s big, authoritative feel.

A 490R “Modern Classic” neck pickup and 490T “Hot Alnico” bridge pickup keep the electronics simple and effective, with two volume controls, a master tone, and 3-way toggle switching. An ABR-1 bridge with brass saddles, stopbar tailpiece, Grover kidney-button tuners, black speed knobs, and gold hardware complete the build.
