The Gibson ELEV8 Underwound Rhythm humbucker brings a more open, vintage-inspired character to Gibson’s modern ELEV8 pickup family. Designed specifically for the neck position, it combines an Alnico 8 magnet with custom-gauge coil wire and an underwound 8k design, creating a responsive voice that retains the power and precision of the ELEV8 platform while offering a more open tonal character.

The ELEV8 family marks the first time Gibson has utilized powerful Alnico 8 magnets in its pickup designs. This magnet and custom-gauge wire combination provides a tight, controlled low end along with excellent articulation, clarity, and dynamic response. The result is a pickup capable of maintaining definition through complex chords and saturated tones while still responding expressively to changes in picking dynamics.

Gibson designed the ELEV8 Underwound specifically to complement a standard ELEV8 in the bridge position. With its 8k average DC resistance, the Underwound provides the more vintage-inspired side of that pairing, while the standard ELEV8 bridge supplies the more powerful modern voice. Together, they create a versatile vintage/modern combination with plenty of range for everything from articulate cleans to aggressive high-gain sounds.

Four-conductor wiring provides additional flexibility for custom wiring configurations, including coil splitting and advanced switching options. This version features uncovered Double Black bobbins and is wax potted to help control unwanted feedback.
