The Gibson Custom SJ-200 Elegant Koa Honey Burst offers an elevated interpretation of Gibson’s legendary “King of the Flat-Tops,” pairing the unmistakable SJ-200 silhouette with highly figured koa and premium Artisan Series appointments. A AAA Sitka spruce top is matched with koa back and sides, combining the high-end clarity associated with maple-like tonewoods with a warmer, increasingly complex response as the instrument opens up over time. A three-rope marquetry center strip accents the koa back and further highlights the guitar’s detailed construction.
The mahogany neck features a comfortable Round profile and a bound rosewood fingerboard with 20 frets and graduated crown inlays rendered in abalone. Abalone also appears on the bound headstock's Gibson logo and crown, while gold Grover Rotomatic tuners complement the upscale presentation. The iconic rosewood two-bar Moustache bridge receives abalone bar inlays, TUSQ hardware, and an especially distinctive SJ-200 pickguard featuring abalone dot inlays and a silver foil stamp that creates an iridescent appearance as the viewing angle changes.
For amplified performance, Gibson equips the SJ-200 Elegant Koa with an L.R. Baggs Anthem system, combining an undersaddle Element pickup with an internal microphone and preamp to capture a natural acoustic voice. Soundhole-mounted controls provide quick access to volume, mix, phase, and battery-check functions while remaining visually discreet. A Gibson Custom hardshell case is included.
