The American Basswood body provides a balanced tonal foundation with an even frequency response, allowing the pickups and playing technique to define the instrument's character. Ibanez developed the Alpha body with several ergonomic features intended to improve comfort and playing stability. A sculpted elbow contour creates a natural resting position for the picking arm, while the extended rear body contour along the upper horn angles the guitar slightly upward against the player's body for improved fingerboard visibility. A wide, flat lower body edge provides a stable contact point when playing seated, and the rear-mounted output jack keeps the cable away from the player's picking and fretting movements.
