JHS The Fumble

The JHS The Fumble is a compact JFET clean boost pedal born from one of the most unexpected stories in JHS history. Originally released accidentally as part of the NOTADÜMBLË V1 DIY kit, the circuit quickly gained a devoted following for its uniquely musical clean enhancement, dynamic feel, and ability to transform everything downstream in a signal chain.

What began as a mistaken inclusion turned out to be a recreation of the Dumble BBC-1 — itself derived from a 1970s Barcus Berry acoustic preamp design that eventually became the foundation for the famed Dumble FET input stage. The result is a deceptively simple boost pedal with a distinctive response unlike traditional clean boosts on the market.

The Fumble features an unusual INPUT control that simultaneously attenuates bass and input gain, allowing players to tighten low end, shape attack, and tailor the feel of their rig in highly musical ways. Whether used as an always-on sweetener, a front-end boost into overdrives, a tone-shaping tool for a pushed tube amp, or a solo boost at the end of the chain, The Fumble delivers articulate, responsive enhancement without masking your core tone.
