To commemorate Chris Martin IV’s 70th birthday, Martin introduces the limited-edition D-18 1955 CFM IV 70th. Inspired by an original 1955 D-18 from the legendary Skip Maggiora collection, this model captures the essence of a mid-century Martin, blending rich history, sustainable craftsmanship, and unmistakable Dreadnought tone.

This D-18 features a gloss-finished Dreadnought body with mahogany back and sides for that classic, punchy projection. The top is crafted from reclaimed spruce, sourced from historic old-growth Alaskan trees, including wind-felled logs, dismantled bridges, and floating logs used in logging operations—marking the first time Martin has ever used this unique, sustainably sourced spruce. The printed finish replicates the original guitar’s worn-in look and character, while the rearward-shifted, non-scalloped Sitka X-bracing produces a clear, focused sound with exceptional treble clarity.

Unique to this edition is an FSC®-certified rosewood fingerboard with 1955 Style 18 dot inlays, a satin-finished select hardwood neck in the Golden Era Modified Low Oval profile, and vintage-style Kluson® Waffleback® nickel tuners. Only 70 of these commemorative guitars will be produced, each with a hand-signed label by Chris Martin IV—a true piece of Martin history.
