This Martin Custom Shop 1937 Authentic-spec 45 Style dreadnought was wood picked and designed by Tone Shop Guitars in collaboration with the Martin Custom Shop. Built with an Adirondack spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back and sides, vintage hide glue construction, and premium Style 45 appointments, this is one of the most serious Martin Custom Shop builds we’ve had through the shop.

The foundation is a Custom Authentic “D” dreadnought body, pairing Adirondack spruce with Brazilian rosewood for the kind of power, depth, and complexity that sits at the top of the Martin world. The top is supported by Adirondack spruce bracing in a forward-shifted X-brace pattern, with scalloped 5/16" bracing for a big, open response with serious headroom.

The Brazilian rosewood back and sides were selected by Tone Shop Guitars, giving this custom build a level of visual and tonal presence that is hard to overstate. Paired with an Adirondack top, it delivers strong projection, rich harmonic content, and the kind of low-end authority players look for in a high-end dreadnought.

The neck is built from 12/4 genuine mahogany with a D-28 Authentic 1937 Barrel & Heel profile, Standard Taper, 1 3/4" nut width, and a black ebony fingerboard. The 25.4" scale length, 16" fingerboard radius, and 2 1/4" string spacing give this guitar an unmistakably traditional feel with plenty of room for strong right-hand attack.

Visually, this build leans fully into the 45 Style aesthetic, with select abalone pearl around the body perimeter, Style 45 Boltaron rosette, Golden Era Style 45 Snowflake fingerboard inlays, a Brazilian rosewood headplate, CFM Block Golden Era headplate inlay, antique white binding, and faux tortoise under-finish pickguard. It is finished in Vintage Gloss Finish with Aging Toner and includes a 5-ply hardshell case.
