This Martin Custom Shop 28 Style Dreadnought was designed by Tone Shop Guitars, with the Wild Grain East Indian rosewood selected by our team for this build. It takes the classic rosewood dreadnought foundation and pushes it into Custom Shop territory with an Adirondack spruce top, forward-shifted Golden Era bracing, and a particularly striking rosewood set.

The Adirondack spruce top gives this guitar strong headroom, clarity, and a powerful attack, while the Wild Grain East Indian rosewood back and sides add depth, sustain, and rich harmonic detail. It has the broad, authoritative voice players want from a great rosewood dreadnought, with enough focus to stay clear under a heavy flatpick or full strum.

Forward-shifted Adirondack spruce X-bracing with Golden Era hand shaping helps the top feel open and responsive while maintaining the low-end authority and projection expected from this body shape. The 25.4" scale length and 2 5/32" string spacing keep the feel traditional, with enough room for confident rhythm work and more detailed right-hand playing.

The neck features a GE Modified Low Oval profile with High Performance Taper, a 1 3/4" nut width, and a black ebony fingerboard with long diamonds and squares inlays. Wild Grain East Indian rosewood is also used for the headplate, tying the selected back and sides into the rest of the build. Bold herringbone top inlay, Style 28 Boltaron rosette, HD zig-zag back purfling, antique white binding, faux tortoise pickguard, and Grover nickel StaTite tuners complete the look.
