This Martin Custom Shop 28 Style Dreadnought pairs a VTS Sitka spruce top with Sinker mahogany back and sides, bringing together a familiar dreadnought platform with a more custom, carefully voiced wood pairing. Built with vintage hide glue construction, Adirondack spruce bracing, and a dovetail neck joint, this one has the right ingredients for a serious Custom Shop acoustic.

The VTS Sitka spruce top gives the guitar a seasoned, open response, while the Sinker mahogany back and sides add warmth, dryness, and a strong fundamental character. The result is a dreadnought that keeps the authority and projection players expect from the body shape, but with a little more focus and woodiness than a traditional rosewood build.

Forward-shifted Adirondack spruce X-bracing with Golden Era hand shaping gives the top room to move, with 5/16" bracing and 1/4" tone bars adding another layer of Custom Shop detail. Birdseye maple binding, bold herringbone top inlay, HD zig-zag back purfling, and a Style 45 Black Maple Fiber Antique White rosette with select abalone give the guitar a clean but elevated look.

The neck features Martin’s GE Modified Low Oval profile with High Performance Taper, a 1 3/4" nut width, and a black ebony fingerboard with long diamonds and squares select abalone inlays. The East Indian rosewood headplate is bound and finished with a Golden Era decal for a classic Martin look.

A black ebony GE Modern Belly bridge, compensated bone saddle, bone pins with Paua dots, Waverly nickel tuners, and 5-ply hardshell case complete the build. The faux tortoise pickguard is included in the case pocket and was not installed at the factory.
