About This Guitar

This Martin Custom Shop 28 Style Super D was built around a Tone Shop-selected set of Wild Grain East Indian rosewood, paired with an Adirondack spruce top and the larger Super Dreadnought body. It takes the familiar Style 28 formula and pushes it into a bigger-bodied custom build, with dramatic rosewood figuring and a few subtle appointment changes that set it apart.

The Adirondack spruce top is supported by 5/16" Golden Era scalloped X-bracing, also made from Adirondack spruce and hand-shaped by Martin. The Super D body uses a 14-fret dovetail neck joint, while Aging Toner and bold red herringbone top trim give the guitar a traditional look with a distinctive twist.

Wild Grain East Indian rosewood is used for the back and sides as well as the headplate, keeping the standout wood selection visible throughout the build. Antique white binding, a Style 28 rosette, faux tortoise pickguard, and HD zig-zag back purfling complete the body appointments.

The select hardwood neck uses Martin’s GE Modified Low Oval profile with High Performance Taper and a 25.4" scale. A black ebony fingerboard features a 16" radius, 1 3/4" bone nut, 2 5/32" string spacing, and long Diamonds and Squares inlays in select abalone.

A black ebony GE Modern Belly bridge, compensated bone saddle, bone pins with faux tortoise accents, and Grover nickel Sta-Tite 18:1 tuners complete the build. A Martin 3-ply domed-top hardshell case and Custom Shop Credentials Book are included.
