This Martin Custom Shop 42 Style dreadnought was designed by Tone Shop Guitars in collaboration with the Martin Custom Shop, with Wild Grain East Indian rosewood selected for this custom build. It brings together a powerful dreadnought body, an Adirondack spruce top, premium rosewood back and sides, and a striking Alternate Torch motif across the fingerboard, headplate, and bridge.

The Adirondack spruce top gives the guitar headroom, clarity, and dynamic range, while the Wild Grain East Indian rosewood back and sides add depth, sustain, and rich overtone content. The result is a dreadnought with strong projection, a full low end, and the kind of detailed response that makes a high-end Martin Custom Shop build feel special from the first chord.

The top is supported by Adirondack spruce bracing in a forward-shifted X-brace pattern, with scalloped Golden Era hand shaping. That combination gives the guitar a more open and responsive feel while keeping the power and authority players expect from a rosewood dreadnought.

The neck is built from 12/4 genuine mahogany with a GE Modified Low Oval profile and High Performance Taper. A black ebony fingerboard, 1 3/4" nut width, 25.4" scale length, and 2 5/32" string spacing give it a comfortable, familiar Martin feel with enough room for confident flatpicking, strumming, and more detailed right-hand work.

Visually, this guitar is loaded with Custom Shop detail. The Alternate Torch motif appears on the fingerboard, headplate, and bridge, paired with select abalone, a Wild Grain East Indian rosewood headplate, Style 45 Boltaron rosette, top pearl perimeter with fingerboard profile, antique white binding, Style 45 mosaic back purfling, gold Grover StaTite tuners, Aging Toner top, and gloss body/gloss neck finish.
