This Martin Custom Shop 42 Style OM was designed by Tone Shop Guitars in collaboration with the Martin Custom Shop, with Cocobolo selected for this custom build. It brings together the balance and versatility of an OM body, the headroom of Adirondack spruce, the visual depth of Cocobolo, and an elegant Alternate Torch motif that ties the fingerboard, headplate, and bridge together.

The Adirondack spruce top gives this guitar excellent clarity, projection, and dynamic range, while the Cocobolo back and sides add power, depth, and a rich overtone profile. The OM body keeps the response balanced and controlled, making this a strong choice for fingerstyle, flatpicking, recording, and vocal accompaniment.

The top is supported by Adirondack spruce bracing in a scalloped X-brace pattern with Golden Era hand shaping. That combination gives the guitar a lively, responsive feel with plenty of articulation and enough headroom for a confident right hand.

The neck is built from 12/4 genuine mahogany with a GE Modified Low Oval profile and High Performance Taper. A black ebony fingerboard, 1 3/4" nut width, 25.4" scale length, and 2 5/32" string spacing give it a familiar modern Martin feel with room for more detailed right-hand work.

Visually, this build is all about elevated Custom Shop detail. The Alternate Torch motif appears on the fingerboard, headplate, and bridge, paired with select abalone, a Cocobolo headplate, Style 45 Boltaron rosette, top pearl perimeter with fingerboard profile, antique white binding, Style 45 mosaic back purfling, gold Grover StaTite tuners, Aging Toner top, and gloss body/gloss neck finish.
