Martin DSS-16E 1935 Burst w/softshell case

The DSS-16E 1935 Burst brings a sloped-shoulder Dreadnought body and short 24.9" scale to Martin’s 16 Series. Its spruce top receives a gloss 1935 Burst finish, while solid mahogany back and sides are finished in satin. Martin pairs that combination with forward-shifted, scalloped X-bracing.

The 24.9" scale is a notable part of this design, giving the large sloped-shoulder body a shorter scale than a traditional Martin Dreadnought. The select hardwood neck uses Martin’s Modified Low Oval profile with a satin finish, while the ebony fingerboard has a 1 3/4" nut width and 1955 Style 18 inlays.

Appointments stay straightforward and traditional, including an ebony bridge, faux tortoise pickguard and nickel open-gear tuners. A TUSQ saddle is used at the bridge.

For amplified use, Martin equips the DSS-16E with an L.R. Baggs Element pickup system. A softshell case is included.
