PRS Private Stock 12505 DGT Semi Hollow Gold Foil Brazilian 0432586

Serial: 0432586
Weight: 6 lbs 14.3 oz

PRS Private Stock #12505 is built around two extraordinary elements: genuine Gold Leaf work across the top and appointments, and a Brazilian rosewood neck and fingerboard. The result is a DGT Semi-Hollow that sits far outside the normal DGT formula, with woods selected by Tone Shop Guitars from the PRS Private Stock Vault.

The curly maple top is finished in Gold Leaf—not gold-colored metallic paint. PRS applies Gold Leaf as individual sheets by hand, an exacting process made more difficult by how exceptionally thin and delicate the material is. The underlying surface has to be carefully prepared, and the leaf itself must be laid down piece by piece before being protected beneath the guitar’s High Gloss Nitro finish. On documented PRS Private Stock Gold Leaf builds, a single top has required roughly 25 to 30 individual pieces of leaf.

That Gold Leaf treatment becomes a complete visual theme rather than stopping at the body. The fingerboard carries Gold Leaf birds outlined in white mother-of-pearl, the Brazilian rosewood headstock veneer features a matching Gold Leaf Private Stock Eagle, and the heel receives a Gold Leaf Cooper’s Hawk. Even the African mahogany backplates receive matching Gold Leaf, extending the concept onto details that would normally remain purely functional.

Against all of that gold is an equally exceptional wood choice: Brazilian rosewood for both the neck and fingerboard. The Brazilian rosewood neck uses David Grissom’s DGT carve, while a matching Brazilian rosewood headstock veneer and truss rod cover continue the material throughout the neck assembly. The semi-hollow body pairs the Gold Leaf curly maple top with an African mahogany back finished in Antique Natural.

A pair of PRS DGT humbuckers is controlled by two volume controls, a push/pull tone control, and a three-way toggle. Gold and nickel hardware includes a PRS Gen II tremolo and Phase III set-screw locking tuners with faux-bone buttons. At just 6 lbs 14.3 oz, this is an unusually elaborate Private Stock build that remains remarkably light.
