Strymon La Brea Analog Tape Drive Pedal

The Strymon La Brea is an all-analog tape saturation drive developed from Strymon’s research into the saturation behavior behind its Deco pedal. Rather than using digital modeling, La Brea uses a multi-stage analog design to produce tape-inspired drive ranging from mild breakup and compression through heavily saturated fuzz.

The Tape Sat control sets the amount of saturation, while a Gain switch changes its available gain range. This gives La Brea a broad operating range, allowing it to function as a subtle saturation stage or move into significantly more driven territory. A Level control sets the overall output.

A three-position Shift switch provides additional frequency shaping. It can add a dedicated high-frequency boost or combine that high-frequency lift with additional midrange content for greater presence and definition. A continuously variable Dry control blends the unaffected signal back into the output, with the dry path remaining in phase even at higher saturation settings.

La Brea maintains a completely analog signal path and operates internally at 24V for increased headroom, wide gain range and low-noise performance. It is powered externally from a standard 9VDC center-negative supply capable of providing 500mA.
