The Taylor Prototype Sunset Boulevard 214ce DLX in Shaded Edgeburst offers a distinctive variation of Taylor's Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric platform, pairing a torrefied Sitka spruce top with layered Indian rosewood back and sides. Developed as part of the Sunset Boulevard prototype collection, this guitar features a gloss-finished Shaded Edgeburst top, white body binding, gold hardware, and 50th Anniversary diamond fingerboard inlays. Its C-Class bracing, comfortable Venetian cutaway, and Taylor Expression System 2 electronics combine familiar Taylor performance features with appointments that distinguish it from the standard 214ce.

The Grand Auditorium body features a torrefied Sitka spruce top, thermally treated to encourage a more mature acoustic response, paired with layered Indian rosewood back and sides. The layered construction uses Indian rosewood outer veneers, a poplar core, and tigerwood or Indian rosewood inner veneers for structural stability. Taylor's C-Class bracing, constructed from Sitka spruce, is designed to enhance low-frequency response and sustain. The Shaded Edgeburst top features walnut and chocolate coloring beneath a gloss finish, while the back and sides retain a natural gloss appearance. White binding, black-and-white top purfling, and a single-ring faux-pearl rosette complete the body appointments.

The neo-tropical mahogany neck features Taylor's Standard Carve profile and NT neck construction, providing a comfortable playing feel and allowing precise neck-angle adjustments. Its Crelicam ebony fingerboard has a 15" radius, 20 frets, and distinctive 50th Anniversary diamond inlays made from faux-pearl Italian acrylic. A 25.5" scale length and 1 11/16" nut width offer familiar string tension and spacing, while the Venetian cutaway provides convenient access to the upper frets. The matte neck finish contrasts with the gloss body for a smooth playing surface.

Taylor's Expression System 2 electronics use behind-the-saddle pickup sensors to capture the guitar's amplified acoustic response. A Crelicam ebony straight-wing bridge, gold Taylor tuners, and classic faux-tortoise pickguard complement the Shaded Edgeburst finish. Additional appointments include a Crelicam ebony peghead veneer, gold neck strap button, and Sunset Boulevard back label. This prototype ships with a brown Taylor deluxe hardshell case.
