The Taylor Prototype Sunset Boulevard 214ce in Eclipse Burst offers a distinctive take on the Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric, combining a torrefied Sitka spruce top with layered walnut back and sides. Developed as part of Taylor's Sunset Boulevard prototype series, this instrument features a custom printed burst finish, white body binding, and 50th Anniversary diamond fingerboard inlays. Its comfortable Grand Auditorium body, Venetian cutaway, and Taylor Expression System 2 electronics make it a versatile instrument for both acoustic performance and amplified playing.

The torrefied Sitka spruce top undergoes a thermal treatment designed to produce a more mature, responsive acoustic character. Layered walnut back and sides feature walnut inner and outer veneers surrounding a poplar core, providing a stable construction with the balanced tonal character associated with walnut. Taylor's C-Class bracing, made from Sitka spruce, helps enhance the guitar's low-end response and sustain. The Eclipse Burst top is applied using Taylor's Roland printing process, which also creates the single-ring rosette. White binding and black-and-white top purfling frame the custom finish, while the back and sides retain a natural satin appearance.

The neo-tropical mahogany neck features Taylor's Standard Carve profile and NT neck construction, providing comfortable playability and allowing precise neck-angle adjustments. Its Crelicam ebony fingerboard has a 15" radius, 20 frets, and 50th Anniversary diamond inlays made from faux-pearl Italian acrylic. A 25.5" scale length and 1 11/16" nut width provide a familiar playing feel, while the Venetian cutaway allows easier access to the upper frets. The matte neck finish provides a smooth, natural feel along the back of the neck.

Taylor's Expression System 2 electronics use behind-the-saddle pickup sensors to capture the guitar's amplified acoustic response. A Crelicam ebony straight-wing bridge, satin black Taylor tuners, and black pickguard complement the instrument's Eclipse Burst finish. Additional appointments include a white peghead logo, black hardware accents, and a Sunset Boulevard back label. The guitar ships with a tan structured gig bag.
